Sam is an experienced and passionate guitar teacher with a great appreciation for student’s individual needs. He understands that no two students are the same and tailors lessons accordingly. Most importantly, he aims to help students of all ages and abilities enjoy learning in a creative and rewarding way.

Sam’s interest in music manifested itself during his time with the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra and gained full momentum during his time in London attending National Youth Jazz Orchestra Rehearsals (NYJO-2), The Junior Royal Academy of Music and The National Youth Jazz Collective Summer School Program. After two years of study at Colchester Institute Sam was awarded a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music (MA, USA). However, he decided to stay in London to achieve a more rounded musical education. Over four years Sam studied Jazz Performance at Trinity Laban, Music Harmony and Musicology at Kings College London (receiving instrumental and compositional tuition at The Royal Academy of Music) and in his final year attended Middlesex University, leaving with a first class bachelors degree in Jazz.

Sam has taught one-to-one lessons to students of varying ages and abilities, from total beginners through to full time professionals. Outside of his private teaching practice Sam works with Richmond Music Trust and Camden Music Services delivering a range of tuition at London primary and secondary schools, sixth form college and a Saturday music school.

Alongside his work in education Sam has performed at many top venues.
These include: The Barbican, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, The Vortex, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Kings Place and Snape Matings Concert Hall. If you want to read more about Sam's work as a performer then please visit
